~ Keep an eye out for something strange in the western sky Wednesday morning, June 10th. Their launch window begins at 7am Pacific time. A SpaceX Falcon 9 launch from California's Vandenberg Space Force Base could be visible across much of Arizona, creating a glowing plume that has surprised many residents who didn't realize they were watching a rocket streak across the desert sky. Every year, millions of people drive across Interstate 40 between Flagstaff and Winslow without realizing they are passing one of the most extraordinary geological sites on Earth.

Just a few miles off the highway sits Meteor Crater, a nearly perfect bowl carved into the Arizona desert by an asteroid impact that forever changed the landscape.

[Sun City West] This summer, fill your calendar with some entertainment and get out of the Arizona heat as Stardust Theatre welcomes a great lineup of talented musicians, along with a hilarious comedy act, to perform in Sun City West as part of the “Live At Stardust” summer event!

Taking place inside the air conditioned Stardust Theatre, located on the Kuentz Recreation Center, members can enjoy a variety of shows on Thursdays during the months of June, July and August at 2 p.m. Doors for each show open at 1:30 p.m. (link)

[Sun City] The Sun City Farmers Market is back at the Bell Center, on 99th Ave just south of Bell Road. The market will be held every Thursday from 9am-1pm, through the end of May. (link)

[Sun City West] This summer, learn to play new games as part of the Recreation Centers of Sun City West’s free “Game Night” events! During these free summer events, you can drop into the Men’s Club on Monday, June 22nd to learn how to play a variety of games taught by volunteers.

Both scheduled events run from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and are free to attend, you’ll just need to RSVP online through our ticketing site, suncitywest.com/tickets, as space is limited.

[Sun City West] Set the stage this summer and bring a full theatre production to life from start to finish! The Stardust Theatre, located in Sun City West, invites students between the ages of 9 and 13 to join their theatre camp this summer and learn the different aspects of theatre production alongside other students, culminating in a public performance of your finished production! Palo Verde Artists (PVA) - will be offering "Summer Paint-ins/Potlucks" for PVA and ABTL members on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the art club room. We are located on the upper level of the pool building at the Sundial Center. Just bring an apron, a canvass, your choice of paints, and a dish to share at the potluck. Peggy Juneau is overseeing the events. This will be a great time to join the club and get to know people. Also, we will be making Christmas decorations for the club room door on Wednesday, June 24, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. In addition, this summer we will be displaying our group paint projects, from the May general meeting, in the display case outside the club room. If anyone would like to join us, the membership fee is only $10 per calendar year and is open to all RCSC Members. Open studios are Tuesdays, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, and Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. There is a calendar and class listing posted outside the PVA art club room at Sundial Center.
